No! I said "Skorts", not "Skirts"!

Friday, 25 April 2014

So, what are Skorts anyway?  It is a garment that was originally designed for female golfers in the 60's as a way to give them more freedom to move, while at the same time, preserving the soft white lines of a skirt.

It was a fashion trend that peaked in the 90's, and in like manner, departed in the 90's just as fast!  The idea of a "skirt" combined with "shorts" did not catch on as the inventor had hoped, because oddly enough, wearing shorts with a fabric panel resembling a skirt is no different than wearing a pair of "culottes", or a "scooter" or even a "skant"...as they are all alike in concept.

Some may refer to "skorts" as "a skirt with a pair of shorts hidden underneath", while others refer to them as "a pair of shorts with a layer of fabric in the front, made to look like a skirt".  Either way, the history of the "skort" was unmemorable and short lived.  Several attempts over the last couple decades have been made to try and revive this dying trend, but it's been to no avail.

Well the dawning of a new day has arrived, and the "skort" has reared its two-faces once again, and women everywhere are embracing the trend! Fashionistas and celebrities are also embracing this trend. The freedom and comfort that the "skort" provides makes it a great choice for women everywhere.  The female tennis player, golfer, gardener, cheerleader, trendsetter, and even the swimsuit model share a special affinity for the "skort."

Kendall Jenner looks fab in her black skorts.

The Saturdays Una Healy rocks a stunning white pair of skorts.

Besaz Boutique has incorporated this trend into their online fashion selection on its website, and has made several different "skort" styles available for purchase.  One of the surprisingly popular styles being worn today is the "ZARA Skort".  This is the hot item for the moment, and many of the celebrities have fashioned this item to fit their own taste and style.
So no matter what you think about the "skort", it has officially made it's way back into fashion's good graces...and it looks like it just might be here for a while!

Online Shopping in Ghana

Tuesday, 1 April 2014

A recent article by CNN Business said:
"In many parts of Africa,...shopping online and picking up goods at centralized locations are quickly taking center stage."
Ghana is no exception to this statement. Lately, as a mobile and digital revolution continues to sweep the country, there has been an absolute surge of buying online in Ghana. This has totally revolutionised the way people obtain their goods.

Ghana Business News reported that in 2012, 4.2 million Ghanians were already internet users, and that number is steadily increasing. More and more of these users are shifting from traditional markets to web markets to make their purchases. Purchasing goods like electronics and fashion items online is much more convenient, as users can place orders from the comfort of their own homes, from their desks at work or from their mobile phones.

Interestingly enough, e-commerce transactions between consumer and online stores are changing the face of Ghana's entire economy. Now, there is less face-to-face local trading and greater access to trading digitally with the same neighbors and even people on the other side of the globe.

Luckily, BeSaz Boutique caters to this economic phenomenon, making it easy for customers based in Ghana to place orders on our fabulous fashion apparel and accessories (while conveniently viewing prices in Ghana Cedis, of course). It's simple--just choose the items you would like to buy, place your order, and wait for a confirmation email. After which, one of our representatives will contact you to confirm your order, you should receive your order within 2 business days, and you can pay on delivery via cash or mobile money!

If you are located in Ghana and would like to contact us, please do not hesitate to call us on +233247395906!

Go Great "Lengths" with Trendy Midi Skirts

Tuesday, 11 March 2014

Being the fashionista you are, you know that the midi dress trend has completely taken off and is being worn on runways, on city streets, and of course, on you!---so much so that the tops in your closet are getting a little bit jealous. Luckily, you can show your shirts some loving with midi skirts. These knee length or below skirts are a great solution because you can combine them with any top, wear them anywhere, look amazing, and still incorporate that midi trend into your outfit!

We love the way fashion blogger Soraya De Carvalho rocked this trend!

For example, let's take BeSaz Boutique's own Grey Embossed Midi Flare Skirt by Closet Clothing. Just this one piece has all the perks of the midi trend and the flare trend, including a nipped waist and long length. But it also has an added bonus: the ability to be matched to a variety of tops for several different outfits. Since the color is so neutral and the shape so accommodating, it works well with a top that is any color or style. You can look equally stylish pairing it with this Ad Lib Black Chiffon White Collar Top tucked in to the waistline as well as with a more colorful option like this Blue Funnel Neck Top by Closet Clothing.

The same goes for the black version of this skirt, our Black Embossed Midi Flare Skirt. You can give the illusion that you're wearing a midi dress with a top of the same color, like a chic Black Pleat Neck Collar Blouse. Alternatively, you could accentuate your waist and arms with a sleeveless Red Peplum Top that will also double up the flare points of your outfit. Whether you're at work, school, or play, you can get more out of your midi skirts by re-wearing them with different shirts during the week.

Browse through the different sections of our site to mix and match midi skirt and top combinations of your own. Have any questions? Contact us! We'd love to answer them.

Style Update: Midi Dresses

Thursday, 6 March 2014

Midi dresses have stepped onto the scene and are taking the fashion world by storm! In case you haven't heard of them yet, BeSaz Boutique has got the answers to all of your burning questions about this hot new trend.

Victoria Beckham in a Midi Dress from her Collection

What exactly are midi dresses?
Midi dresses are the newest dress trend. It's all in the hemline--not floor length and not a mini skirt, but right at the knee or below. These dresses are a throwback to the 1940's, when it was popular for women around the globe to wear longer skirts and dresses that were fashionable and functional at the same time.

Why wear midi dresses?
The great thing about midi dresses is versatility, which is perfect for day to night style. Their knee-or-below length make them appropriate enough for business meetings, while their non-restricting style accommodates your budding social life right after your shift ends. No more conservative work outfits that make you yawn, and no more having to go home to change into another, more stylish outfit for a night on the town. With midi dresses, it's one-and-done.

Can I find midi dresses at BeSaz Boutique?
Of course! As always, BeSaz Boutique is here to hook you up with the latest fashion trends at a reasonable price. For starters, try our Navy Cowl Neck Midi Dress by Closet Clothing. The stretchy fabric of this classic dress will accentuate your curves and complement your silhouette.

If you're looking for a similar dress with more arm coverage, check out our Cream and Black Midi Dress by Hybrid Fashion. The black lace detail on the chest and sleeves panels provide a slimming effect that gives the illusion of more petite frame.

Want to add a pop of color? The Pink Capped Sleeve Midi Dress by Hybrid Fashion is sure to turn heads with its fashion-forward midi hemline, sexy silhouette shape, and vivid pink color that works with all skin tones.

Finally, if you're looking for a neutral-colored midi dress that you can accessorize with any color or style necklace, earrings, bracelet, purse, or shoes, or if you want one that simply accents your waist, the Ash Contrast Waist Midi Dress by Closet Clothing might be for you.
